Extending full support to strike of NHM employees, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today in press communique has threatened to go on indefinite strike, if all the long pending geniune demnads of doctors are not addressed.
It is pathetic that patients are facing difficulties and hardship in getting treatment and regular staff is overburdened exhausted and fatigued due to strike of NHM employees which has now entered in to fourth week. The state governments insensitive attitude to redress their grievances has taken heavy toll on common people.Doctors association Kashmir has threatened to launch statewide agitation to press for resolution of its long pending demands which have not been fulfilled by government despite repeated assurances from time to time. Our patience is running out as government has not fulfilled even a single demand of ours so far. Our main demand of restoration of seniority in health administration has not been taken seriously and people who are influential with politico- bureaucratic clout have been entrusted with job of running administration of which has resulted in irreversible damage to this noble profession and has increased the suffering of common masses. Despite almost a month long strike by NHM the government has failed to break the deadlock thus creating problems for people at large and regular staff who have been overstretched now to elastic limits. We were expecting that the governor led administration would be altogether different and sensitive to adress the geniune demands and problems faced by state doctors ,but it has outrightly disappointed us said president DAK Dr Suhail Naik. The restoration of administrative seniority , two and half days additional salary, caderization of medical officers ,dental surgeon’s and consultants, risk and rural allowances, transparent transfer policy, non bailable warrant against offenders are all geniune pending demands from more than one decade now. The state government has never taken health department on priority and consequently all the heath employees and common public are victims of power arrogance said General secretary DAK Dr Owais H Dar. Unfortunately in our state the strike and agitation are now established modes to get geniune demands of employees addressed. We warn government that if our geniune demnads are not addressed , we will also go for indefinite strike and the adverse consequences whatsoever will be the responsibility of state government.
